Lyft Pink, formerly called Ride Pass Smart Savings Plan, is a monthly subscription plan that costs $19.99 per month. The plan offers 15% off all rides across any Lyft service, for an unlimited number of rides. Other perks include priority airport pickups, waived lost and found fees, and additional surprise offers. Lyft will also waive cancellation fees for members, up to 3 times per month (if rebooked within 15 minutes). Members also receive 3 free 30-minute bike and scooter rides each month. Lyft Pink is valid in all cities in the US where Lyft operates. The comparable Uber membership service is Uber Ride Pass.

Many riders ask if it’s worth it to shell out the $19.99 per month for the plan. It all depends on frequency of usage. Riders who spend at least $133.33 a month will save money with the subscription. For most riders who use the service occasionally, it most likely will not save you any money.

The main benefit of the plan is protection against unforeseen surge prices caused by high demand, traffic, weather, and time of day. Ride Pass covers both UberX and Uber Pool, and includes 30 minutes of free JUMP bike usage per day. Ride Pass is currently only available in select cities. Members also enjoy free deliveries on Uber Eats.

Yes. Riders earn 1 point for every dollar spent on uberPOOL and Uber Eats, 2 points for solo rides on Uber X, UberXL, UberSelect & UberWAV, and 3 points for every ride on UberBlack & UberBlack SUV. Riders get a $5 credit for every 500 points. Uber Rewards has 4 tiers: Blue (less than 500 points), Gold (2,500 to 7,499 points), Platinum (2,500 to 7,499 points) and Diamond (7,500 and above). Users at the Gold level can cancel and rebook rides within 15 minutes without a cancellation fee, and priority support. Platinum members get protection against surge pricing on one ride of their choosing and will pay the standard fare. Diamond members get 24 hour phone support, and occasional free upgrades to luxury rides when available. Currently, the rewards program is limited to riders in MiamiDenverTampa, Fla., Washington, D.C., PhiladelphiaAtlantaSan DiegoNew Jersey and the New York City metro area. Riders can join within the app under the ‘menu’ tab.

Uber

UberX is the entry level option for passengers with room for up to four passengers. The company also offers uberPOOL in select markets, which allows multiple parties to share rides in UberX sedans, at an even lower cost.

Lyft

The standard option for Lyft users is simply called Lyft. Riders can also share their trips with other parties to save money using the Shared mode in select markets.

Uber and Lyft do not list ride discounts among its rewards programs for drivers. Drivers may be able to use first-time passenger codes if they haven’t previously hailed rides on Uber or Lyft.
